The notification also makes it clear that CAPF candidates can be liable to serve anywhere in India, and SSC does not allocate CAPF vacancies on a state, region, zone or city-wise basis.

This makes the recruitment particularly relevant for candidates who are prepared for an all-India service career.

SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The basic educational qualification for Delhi Police SI and CAPF SI GD is a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification. Candidates whose qualifying examination results are declared by the closing date of the application can meet the educational requirement, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.

For CISF SI Fire, the educational requirements are different. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or the specified matriculation-plus-three-year diploma route in eligible engineering disciplines.

Candidates should therefore read the post-specific qualification requirements carefully rather than assuming that the same qualification applies to every post.

For male candidates applying for Delhi Police SI, another important condition applies. They must possess a valid LMV driving licence for motorcycle and car by the date of PE&MT. Candidates without the required licence may still be eligible for CAPF SI, but they cannot be considered for Delhi Police SI.

Age Limit

The age is reckoned with reference to 1 August 2026. The notification also provides specific provisions for departmental Delhi Police candidates and applicable age relaxations.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories should carefully check the relevant age-relaxation provisions and ensure that they possess the required supporting certificates.

SSC CPO 2026 Exam Pattern

Understanding the SSC CPO 2026 exam pattern is essential because the recruitment consists of multiple mandatory stages.

The selection process is:

Paper-I → PST/PET → Paper-II → Medical Examination → Document Verification → Final Selection.

Paper-I

Paper-I contains four sections:

1. General Intelligence & Reasoning – 25 questions
2. General Knowledge & General Awareness – 25 questions
3. Quantitative Aptitude – 25 questions
4. English Comprehension – 25 questions

There are 100 questions for 100 marks, with a total duration of one hour. The paper also has sectional timing provisions

Paper-II

Paper-II consists of:

1. Reasoning – 20 questions, 40 marks
2. General Knowledge & General Awareness – 20 questions, 40 marks
3. Quantitative Aptitude – 20 questions, 40 marks
4. English – 100 questions, 200 marks

The paper contains 200 questions for 200 marks and is also conducted with sectional timing.

Negative marking is also important. There is a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II.

SSC CPO 2026 Syllabus

The SSC CPO 2026 syllabus covers the major subjects generally associated with competitive examinations.

Reasoning includes areas such as analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, problem solving and other logical reasoning topics.

General Knowledge and General Awareness cover areas including current affairs, history, culture, geography, economic matters, polity, constitution and general science.

Quantitative Aptitude includes percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, time and work, time and distance, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and data interpretation.

English Comprehension tests vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and related language skills. The notification specifies that Paper-II has a higher level of difficulty compared with Paper-I.

SSC CPO 2026 Physical Standards and PET

Written examination preparation alone is not enough for the SSC CPO 2026 selection process. Candidates must also qualify the Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test.

For CAPF SI, the standard male height is generally 170 cm, with chest measurements of 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded. Certain relaxations are available for specified categories and regions. Female candidates generally require a height of 157 cm, with applicable relaxations, and there is no minimum chest requirement for female candidates.

The PET includes events such as:

1. 100 metres – 16 seconds
2. 1.6 km race – 6.5 minutes
3. Long jump – 3.65 metres
4. High jump – 1.2 metres
5. Shot put – 4.5 metres

Female Candidates

1. 100 metres – 18 seconds
2. 800 metres – 4 minutes
3. Long jump – 2.7 metres
4. High jump – 0.9 metres

PST/PET carries no marks and is qualifying in nature. However, failing these tests can eliminate a candidate from further consideration

Medical Examination and Document Verification

Candidates who qualify Paper-II undergo the prescribed medical examination. Candidates found unfit in the Detailed Medical Examination may undergo a Review Medical Examination under the conditions specified in the notification.

Document verification is another important stage. Candidates may need to produce documents such as their matriculation certificate, educational qualification certificate, category certificate, driving licence where applicable, age-relaxation documents and other relevant certificates.

NCC Bonus and Final Selection

Candidates with NCC certificates can receive bonus marks in each paper:

1. NCC C Certificate: 5% of maximum marks
2. NCC B Certificate: 3%
3. NCC A Certificate: 2%

Final selection is based on Paper-II performance, including applicable NCC bonus, along with post/force preference, after candidates qualify the required medical and document verification stages.

Candidates should also remember that post and force preferences are important. The notification states that the preference submitted after the Paper-II result is final and irreversible.

How to Prepare for SSC CPO 2026

A strong preparation strategy should cover both the written examination and physical requirements.
